iglooworks PM Mode Is Here. And It Was Built for Property Managers, Not IT Teams.

iglooworks PM Mode Is Here

Think of your property like a BBQ you host every year.

You know exactly who is invited, which part of the backyard they can hang in, and when they need to head home. You do not think about the gate latch. You think about the guests.

Now imagine someone handed you a gate management system and said "great, this is how you run your BBQ." You would have to register every latch individually, issue numbered codes per gate, and update a spreadsheet every time a new guest arrives. The latch system has no idea who anyone is, or which area they should be in, or when the party ends.

That is exactly what property managers have been dealing with for years, access tools built for the gate, not the guests.

That changes on 1 June 2026.

The problem with how access management was built

Traditional lock-and-key security and device-centric access platforms were not designed with residential property managers in mind. When managing multiple properties or large occupancy properties, the complexity of device-centric tools only grows.

The existing model works like this: pair a lock, issue a PIN or Bluetooth key, manage access at the device level, revoke when needed. It is a solid workflow for facilities teams and operational managers. It is not how a property manager thinks, talks, or works.

A property manager thinks in buildings, not Bluetooth IDs. In residents, not "lock users." In lease windows, not indefinite access periods. The mental model was never theirs, they just inherited someone else's.

The winning access control solutions in 2026 are not necessarily the ones with the longest spec sheets. They are the ones that integrate deeply with property management workflows to automate processes. iglooworks PM Mode was built from that premise.

What iglooworks PM Mode actually is

PM Mode is a purpose-built platform experience for multi-family residential property managers. Same iglooworks backend. Completely different surface, one organised around the structures and relationships property managers actually deal with.

Communities. Buildings. Units. Residents. Leases. Those are the building blocks, not device IDs and PIN strings.

The existing iglooworks Generic Mode (for facilities teams, STR operators, and enterprise accounts) stays exactly as it is. PM Mode is a new lane, not a detour.

iglooworks PM Mode Phase 1 breakdown

Phase 1 covers the full staff-managed workflow from property setup to resident move-in. Here is what is in it:

  • Community Setup Wizard: Before a single resident is onboarded, you build your property canvas. Define buildings, bulk-generate entire unit lists in seconds, and name every access point: lobby, gym, pool, mailroom, in the language your team actually uses. Everything else in the platform builds on this foundation.

  • Access Presets and Door Groups: Group access points into door groups. Bundle those with schedules. Save as a reusable preset. "Adult Resident Access" or "Staff Common Area", whatever naming works for your property. Assign to a resident in two clicks and every door, every schedule, every permission is correctly configured. Consistent every time.

  • Resident Management and Wallet Pass Credentials: Create a resident profile, set their lease window, assign a preset, and issue an Apple or Google Wallet Pass as their primary credential. The resident receives an email, adds the pass to their phone, and from that moment their phone is their key. No separate app download. No PIN to relay. No front desk handoff.

Mobile credentials are transforming access control in multifamily, enabling residents to use smartphones as keys, which increases convenience and reduces lockout incidents. Wallet Passes in PM Mode take that further by tying the credential directly to a lease, making revocation automatic at move-out.

  • Visitor and Contractor Access: Create time-bound algoPINs and custom PINs for guests, contractors, and delivery windows. Set which doors, for how long, and share via email or manually. Every pass tracked and revocable from the dashboard.

  • Hardware View: Every paired lock visible by unit or access point, with battery level, last sync timestamp, and Bluetooth ID shown at a glance. Phase 1 supports EK2, DAX5, and DAX6 hardware.

What is coming in iglooworks PM Mode Phase 2

Phase 2 hands more control directly to residents. A brand-new resident view inside the iglooworks app. BLE unlock with microsync. Unit lock self-management, residents create their own PINs, adjust auto-lock and volume settings, view their activity log filtered to their lease window. Resident-generated visitor passes for common areas. iglookey added as a visitor credential. LLX5 and LLX6 lever locks added to the supported hardware set.

Why this matters right now

2026 sees a critical convergence of cost compression, heightened resident expectations, and digital transformation. Communities that adapt will outperform their competition in terms of Net Operating Income and resident retention.

According to AppFolio's 2026 Property Management Benchmark Report, 81% of property managers report a positive outlook for 2026, and 77% expect to grow their unit counts. Yet legacy software continues to create operational friction that prevents teams from scaling efficiently.

PM Mode removes that friction at the access layer. It does not ask property managers to adapt to a tool. It adapts the tool to them.
